Poppycock

$35.00

Poppycock is a painting of a rather angry rooster. While at an art show, someone who was looking at the original painting (sold) asked why is he so angry? I replied: Have you ever seen a happy rooster?

He is sitting majestically amongst the orange poppies, surveying his kingdom which is the garden.

For a long time I really wanted chickens around the yard. My husband, who had grown up on a small farm, said no way. He knew what all raising chickens entailed. I can see his point. So instead, I just paint them.

I find them fascinating. To me, they're like little robots and so comical to watch. Their colors and feathers are so fun to paint. I have several different prints available of chickens and roosters.

Nowadays, I have a friend who does have chickens and I get to visit them anytime I like. It's the best of both worlds.
